NEW YORK-PRESBYTERIAN QUEENS HOSPITAL

HEALTHCARE

PROJECT BACKGROUND

New York-Presbyterian Queens Hospital is a 535-bed tertiary community teaching hospital that provides services in 14 clinical departments and numerous subspecialties to Queens and metro New York residents.

CHALLENGE

Patients seek medical care at New York-Presbyterian Queens Hospital for various ailments through inpatient and outpatient procedures or ongoing treatments. Any disruption would severely impact the day-to-day activities of the hospital’s various units. New York-Presbyterian Queens Hospital is faced with the ongoing challenge of remodeling various units with minimal disruption to patient care. The facility requested an overnight turnover for critical care areas to provide minimal downtime or loss of space as this would be detrimental to both patient care and revenue.

OUTCOME

Each remodeled unit at New York-Presbyterian Queens Hospital was completed within 24 hours from start to finish including replacing the wall base. The Hemodialysis area was slightly more than 2,000 SF and was turned around in just 14 hours. Using SetaGrip™ was a significantly quicker process than traditional LVT installation and ultimately more cost-effective. The hospital did not have to close any of the patient care areas during the renovation and was able to continue medical care with minimal downtime and disruptions to patients. SetaGrip™ does not create dust or odors during installation. Therefore, New York-Presbyterian Queens Hospital saved significant time and money as there was no need for containment barriers or expensive negative air return equipment.

OUTCOME

When asked about the new SetaGrip™ flooring, it was common for the staff to comment on how comfortable the floor is to stand on compared to their other flooring and how much it looks like real wood.
