SUPERIOR CARPET INSTALLERS CONTRACTOR – HOSPITAL

PROJECT BACKGROUND

When a local Indianapolis Hospital needed new flooring that would not cause any downtime in their busy ER, they came to Superior Carpet Installers. The company provides all services related to this project and was able to provide a quick solution that would not disrupt staff or patient care during the installation.

CHALLENGE

The project was in a local Indianapolis hospital ER department. Two challenges were presented. First, the ER could not shut down for any reason because any disruption would impact the activities that take place in this area. Second, the existing floor was a rubber sheet product. The team had to come up with an alternative plan that wouldn’t require a complete shutdown. In addition, they had to find a way to install the new flooring without disturbing the existing rubber sheet flooring. The biggest concern was presenting a solution that would adhere to the existing rubber sheet flooring. Rubber flooring inherently contains many waxes as part of the makeup of the product.

OUTCOME

Superior Carpet Installers presented SetaGrip™ as the optimal flooring solution for this occupied space. The Facility Manager wanted to test the product in a small area before committing to the larger project given the challenges faced. Superior installed 150 sq. ft. test floor in the ICU entryway. The test floor proved to be successful for eliminating downtime and adhering to the existing rubber sheet product. The installation was performed while traffic moved throughout the ICU, including heavy rolling loads and foot traffic. The installers simply moved out of the way and went back to the installation. The cleanup was fast and no temporary partitions or negative air systems were needed as with traditional glue down products. The hospital staff and
patients were not relocated during construction.

The nurses loved how warm the space felt, as well as underfoot comfort. They were also happy with the sound reduction SetaGrip™ offers compared to the existing rubber sheet product.
